Powwow in Paradise

Whilst on the island of Kaua’i, a friend Kaplan Bunce invited me to the Powwow in Paradise, a cultural event and a traditional Native American powwow for the community . Many tribes and Pacific nations were represented and much dancing and drumming – I was honoured to join  the Tahitian drummers.

This unique Powwow ‘has a special emphasis on cultural exchange between the Native American and Polynesian cultures.’

On the first night different cultural expressions were represented – Native American flute, taiko drummers, Tahitian dancers, African drummers and more contemporary music.
