In 2024 after a month of flooding and storms, the medical dispensary at Mnase village, Tanzania – after 16 years of use, needed some serious repairs. Six windows were broken and various leaks appeared in the roof. This meant that some of the medical services were not able to be provided. This is the third time that we have had to repair windows – so we decided to use this mishap to bring an upgrade to the building and the old windows were completely replaced with strong aluminium frames. The old roofing sheets were also replaced by new stronger sheets. Hopefully these will stand up to the strong winds that they get at certain times of the year.
This year the inside roof panels where the leaks had damaged ceilings have been repaired and everything has been painted, and soon they will have new seating, curtains and a flat screen TV in the waiting room for patients’ education on health, news and entertainment.
The first set of pictures are before the work was completed – showing the years of wear and tear. Door handles broken, seats worn out, leaks from storms damaging ceilings and paintwork crumbling. The second set – after the repair work. Very exciting to see it all looking a new.
It is amazing how music connected us to this Tanzanian village over 20 years ago.
